Myofascial Layer Joint Dysfunction

The inner layer of a synovial joint may fold or become entrapped within the joint space. Compression of the tender synovial folds can result in pain and joint locking. Applying gentle force to induce a cavitation or popping can release this type of lesion, restoring motion to the affected area. Additionally, force may be applied to alleviate painful knots and tight, tender zones within the tissue. In some cases, pressure along a distance may be required to release tight banding of contractile tissue.
